Conference: Luxembourg’s Trade with Israel and International Law
Conference: Luxembourg’s Trade with Israel and International Law
« Luxembourg’s International Obligations and Responsibility Regarding Israel’s Practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory »
This symposium examines the critical tension between Luxembourg’s staunch legal defense of Palestinian rights—and its economic relations with Israel that risk supporting ‘wrongful acts’. The event references the March 2026 legal report by the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies’ Scientific Unit, which analyzes Luxembourg’s responsibilities under the highest, most binding norms of international law. The report underscores Luxembourg’s overriding duty to prevent genocide, ensure human rights protection, and address risks of complicity, while outlining concrete actions Luxembourg can take unilaterally to align its policies with these non-negotiable legal standards.
Government representatives, economic actors, ministry staff, and civil society activists are invited to engage in this important discussion.
The conference speakers :
- Francesca Albanese, (UN Special Rapporteur)
- Budour Hassan, (International Law specialist for Amnesty International ),
- Dr. Shahd Hammouri, (Law for Palestine).
- Dr. Shir Hever, (Managing Director of the Alliance for Justice between Israelis and Palestinians)
